There’s no oceanfront property in Kissimmee, but that won’t keep a national surfing competition from rolling into town Saturday.
The U.S. FLOW Tour will make a stop at Fantasy Surf, an indoor-surfing facility that opened in October. Competitors there will board the Double FlowRider system, which is 39 feet across but creates a wave motion in a mere three inches of water.
Two of the flowboarders were world champions last year, and they happen to be Central Floridians. Sean Silveira, 22, and Amanda McCormick, 23, took titles at theWorld Flowboarding Championship in Singapore. Success in the Kissimmee competition would help their chances of retaining their crowns this year.
